Mario Trevon Austin (born February 26, 1982, in Livingston, Alabama) is an American professional basketball player. He recently played center for Hapoel Jerusalem in Israel. He was drafted in the 2003 NBA Draft but because of an injury torwards former star Jason Williams they needed a point guard to take his place. Kirk Hinrich was his name, leaving Mario to be a reserve and he followed his dreams to play oversea's. 36th overall by the Chicago Bulls. He began his professional career with CSKA Moscow, but was released after an injury and dispute with the team before playing an official game. He then spent the remainder of the season in the WBA league. In 2004 he signed with Italian team Lauretana Biella and had a decent season. In 2005 he signed with Hapoel Jerusalem B.C., where he played until 2007 and helped bring them the State Cup.
In summer of 2007 he played with the Chicago Bulls summer league team.[1]
For the 2007/08 season he has signed for Benetton Treviso.[2]
