Manoel Amorim

Manoel Luis Farrao Amorim (1959- ) is the CEO of the Brazilian Telecommunications firm Telefonica. He previously served as the first director of AOL Brazil.
Amorim was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Athos M. Amorim and his wife, the former Maria Farrao. When still a youth Manoel Amorim joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with his parents.
Amorim received a degree from the Military Institute of Engineering in Rio. He also served a mission for the LDS Church in Sao Paulo.
In 1990 Amorim received an MBA from Harvard Business School. Amorim began his business career in marketing. He worked for Proctor and Gamble's Latin American division and eventually became the General Manager over employees in 13 countries. Amorim left AOL for Telefonica in 2001.[1] By 2006 Telefonica, with Amorin as CEO, had become the third largest corporation in Brazil.
For a time starting in 1993 Amorin served as a counselor in the Osasco Brazil Stake Presidency. He is married to Marcia Do Carmen De Sousa.
