[edit] List of light rail transit systems

Unlike MRT, which is the name of several urban rail transit systems, LRT is at the same time a generic term for light rail transit systems. Mass Rapid Transit serves as a disambiguation to system with this name, whereas light rail transit is not a disambiguation for systems named LRT. What I did was to add a link to the list of light rail transit systems for readers to look for systems named LRT, in addition to light rail transit which describes this type of transport. — Instantnood 12:33, August 7, 2005 (UTC)

May I know what is the meaning of "generic"? The LRT system in Singapore, may I point out, stands for Light Rapid Transit, and I believe not every system out there calls their system by the same name, although with the same abbreviation too, so dont you think you are adding an unnecesary line which creates problems when there was non before?--Huaiwei 14:20, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
The Manila Light Rail Transit System, Putra LRT and Star LRT, for instance, are all Light Rail Transit. Singapore is perhaps an exception here which I did not think it has to be specfically mentioned on an disambiguation page. I can change it if you prefer to do so. — Instantnood 14:36, August 7, 2005 (UTC)
I dont have a policy of over populating disambiguation pages. I would simply create a sub-disambiguation page if need be, as I have already done.--Huaiwei 14:57, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
The list of light rail transit systems can disambiguate light rail transit systems named LRT, and that's why I added a link point to it. — Instantnood 15:08, August 7, 2005 (UTC)
Can you show us if that page is a listing of light rail systems on the planet all with the word "LRT" in their official names? And does it tell you which system does not, or which system has the word LRT with a different meaning?--Huaiwei 15:37, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
I now notice your proposal. Would be alright if a similar page is created, iff nobody considers it redundant, to disambiguate systems named "Light Rail Transit". — Instantnood 15:46, August 7, 2005 (UTC)
oh....finally you understand what I am saying. If it helps to have another page for systems named "Light Rail Transit", I dont see why we cant have another disambg page for that. Feel free.--Huaiwei 15:52, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
Last time I checked the page Light Rapid Transit was a red link and you never tell here what your proposal is. I'm okay with your proposal, but I don't support it. If you want your proposal works, feel free. Don't stop in the middle. — Instantnood 15:58, August 7, 2005 (UTC)
Huh?? Now I am completely lost! What proposal??--Huaiwei 16:04, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
To have subdisambiguation pages, like what you've done with Light Rapid Transit. — Instantnood 16:08, August 7, 2005 (UTC)
That dosent mean I am going to do one for every single possible usage unless its neccesary. I did consider the above before you talked about it, but I decided to shelf the idea since I suppose people might consider it redundant or a dublicate article. If you think it is ok despite these concerns, go ahead. That is no longer my issue. Its yours.--Huaiwei 16:12, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
If your proposal works, it is necessary to do one for every single usage. If you're not going to implement your entire proposal and stop in the middle, I'm afraid I would have to nominate Mass Light Rapid Transit to VFD, or make it a redirect to to Mass Light Rapid Transit (Singapore). There's no point to have a disambiguation to one single article. — Instantnood 16:22, August 7, 2005 (UTC) (modified 16:49, August 7, 2005 (UTC))
The funny thing is Mass Rapid Transit was once all about the Singaporean entity, until others found it neccesary to turn it into a disambg page. You seem to be trying to do the opposite now. May I also point out, that the term Mass Rapid Transit still applies to the Taipei system, and it is the official name of the Bangkok Metro.--Huaiwei 16:46, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
I'm sorry I should be talking about Light Rapid Transit and Light Rapid Transit (Singapore). — Instantnood 16:49, August 7, 2005 (UTC)
If you may take some time off to do a google search, you will realise the term is used not just in reference to the Singapore system. Still, what kind of end result are you hoping to look for? I would have tought a solution was in sight. Now it seems like you are planning to undo even my last edit after a short moment of pretending to be receptive to the idea?--Huaiwei 16:52, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
I'm in fact looking forward to the (sub-)disambiguation page for Light Rail Transit, assuming you're serious with your proposal. But seems like you're going to shelf your proposal.. the only thing I could do is to undo it for the time being. — Instantnood 17:12, August 7, 2005 (UTC)
I have already explained why I did not do it. What in the world are you trying to do now? I hope you realise you are not making any sense now at all with your above comment, and it does look like a desperate attempt to incite a major disagreement here for nothing? If you are looking forward to it, why dont you do it? This is pure ridiculous!--Huaiwei 17:13, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
Fine. I'll go ahead to create Light Rail Transit. But I'd have to emphasise that it is not my proposal, and it should not be seen as my endorsement of this proposal. I'm just finishing something the proposer left unfinished and have declined to finish. — Instantnood 17:32, August 7, 2005 (UTC)
