Letter Kills was a Christian rock band from Southern California. The band formed in August of 2002. [1] They were signed to Island Records [2] and produced by Jim Wirt (who also produced Incubus and Hoobastank).

The band cites their Christian beliefs as the reason they got together. The name Letter Kills comes from Second Corinthians 3:6 - "for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life." [3]

Their first album, The Bridge, was released July 2, 2004. This CD sold around 200,000 copies.

They toured the United States, with Story of the Year as part of the Nintendo Fusion Tour and on the Van's Warped Tour. [4] They have also toured with The Used, Lostprophets, My Chemical Romance, 3 Days Grace and many other bands.

[edit] Breakup

While recording their followup to The Bridge, guitarist Dustin Lovelis left the band to form The Fling. The band broke up in 2006. They cited the cause of their breakup as lack of artistic freedom with their label.

After the band broke up, lead singer Matthew Shelton returned to his hometown of Fort Worth, Texas where he started a new band called Teleo. Lead guitarist Timothy Cordova joined another band called Point of Recognition, and later moved to Utah to train to become a teacher.

In 2008 Matt Shelton became the permanent lead singer of the band The Wedding (band) no word if the band teleo is going to be in works .
