Academics: Their academic program is rigorous and based on the Ontario Curriculum just like every other school in Ontario. Their teachers are fully qualified members of the Ontario College of Teachers and are specialists in their particular curriculum area. Their school day is extended by 30 minutes daily to allow them the time to complete a full curriculum. Students at Pearson carry a heavy homework load Summer Arts Program: They believe our work with the arts pays off in increased student achievement. Their EQAO results reflect the value of an arts education for all students. Each year they run a summer arts camp which has been very successful. Some campers come back every year. Dance: In grade four the student start dance and continue until they leave in grade eight. There dances go from Ballet to hip hop to swing. Drama: Grade Four: You do a black light show and a series of reader's theaters Grade five: You do a child's story, like Charlotte's Web, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory and The Witches. Grade Six: You do a simple Shakespeare play. Previous Ones include: Twelve Night, Tempest, A Comedy of Errors. Grade Seven: You don't put on a show but you work on voice, improvisation, and memory Grade Eight: You do a harder Shakespeare show, Macbeth, Othello, and You write and put on another huge show, White Rabbit, A faerie's Tale Art: You study everything from Picasso to Two Point Perspective Music: Each Grade has Sing Vocal where you learn Theory and Music history and Double Vocal where both classes come together and sing songs based on their level. There is also the Pearson Singers a group of auditioned students from grades 5-8. There is Also Twelve and Nexus. Twelve is 12 grade 8 students who preform harder pieces. And Nexus is a reunion choir from Twelve whoa re planning to tour soon. There is also Strings and Winds for each grade. Pearson also has a Volleyball Basketball Cross Country and Track & Field teams who do very well.
