Les Trophées du Libre

The Les Trophèes du Libre contest is one of the biggest worldwide Open Source contest whose goal it is to promote innovative software projects and give these projects recognition and media coverage - recently also to motivate students and academic institutions with special prices. The competition is international, it is intended both to free development professionals and amateurs. Participating projects can capply for 6 categories: Security, Games and Multimedia, Business Management and Education.
The first edition 2003 had 113 applying projects from 18 different countries, 2005 149 projects from 25 different countries. In 2005 the jury consisted of members from 12 nations and it was chaired by Mark Shuttleworth, known for the foundation of Thawte and funding of Ubuntu, a Linux distribution.
