Lenny Luthor
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lenny Luthor, played by Jon Cryer, is the teenaged nephew of criminal genius Lex Luthor, who appears in the film Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. Like his uncle's previous criminal associates (i.e. Otis), Lenny is considerably less than intelligent, and in fact he's a bungling imbecile according to Lex, who considers him "the Dutch Elm disease of my family tree."
[edit] Role in Superman IV
He assists his uncle in escaping from a prison chain gang by distracting the guards with the high-tech sound system of his car: when they get in to try it out for themselves it is revealed that Lenny can control the vehicle remotely, and he uses a remote control to drive the car off a nearby cliff with the two guards inside. He and Uncle Lex then escape in a convenient paddywagon. Later, he and Lex steal a strand of Superman's hair from a museum exhibit, which Lex uses to create Nuclear Man. Lenny's role in the story diminishes from this point onward. He remains in the film and has a few lines, but remains primarily a background character for the rest of the movie up until the end, when he and Uncle Lex are attempting to escape in their car after Superman has succeeded in destroying Nuclear Man. They are waylaid by Superman, who returns Lex to the chain gang but takes Lenny to Boy's Town, for some reason believing the hooligan deserves a second chance.
