Línea Belgrano Sur (Buenos Aires)

The Línea Belgrano Sur (in English: Belgrano Southern Line) is a commuter rail service in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina run by the private company Transportes Metropolitanos Belgrano Sur S.A. (TMB), a subsidiary of Metropolitano, between 1 May 1994 and 22 May 2007. This service had previously been run by the state-owned Ferrocarril General Manuel Belgrano since nationalisation of the railways in 1948.
The Línea Belgrano Sur operates the following services:
1) From the terminus of Buenos Aires South Belgrano Line Station, outside the city centre, to Gonzalez Catan along a metre gauge line built by the French-owned CGBA.
2) From the terminus Estación Puente Alsina, just outside the city, to General Belgrano[1] along a metre gauge line built by the British-owned Buenos Aires Midland Railway.
In spite of the large government subsidies received by TMB a serious decline[2] in the standard of their rail services has led to the original concession being revoked and the service is now operated by the consortium UGOFE.
