Kondapalli is a village on the outskirts of Vijayawada city. It is 16 km by road from Vijayawada on national highway 221 and on Hyderabad –Vijayawada railway line.. It is very famous for Kondapalli bommalu (Kondapally toys).‘kondapalli toys chisled out of locally available special light softwood (‘Tella Poniki’) and painted with vegetable dyes, and vibrant enamel colours are world famous artistic wonders. They are made by artisans said to have migrated from Rajasthan several generations ago..Most popular toys are ‘Dasavatarams’ (Ten incarnations of lordVishnu) elephant with Ambari, palanquin-bearers carrying bride and bride-groom, toddy tapper, set of village craftsmen, besides animals. [Kondapalli Khilla] (fort) is a major tourist attraction. The historic fort on the hill (Eastern ghats) on west of the village was built by Prolaya Vema Reddy of kodaveedu during 14th Century It was under occupation of Gajapati rulers of Orissa for some time , then krishna devaraya of Vijayanagar and It later fell into the hands of Muslim rulers of Qutubshahi dynasty in 16 th century. One can see the remains of main fort and the prisons of that time. The fort is connected by road from Ibrahimpatnam and kondapalli. Tourism development is now remodeling the fort, Prison, Ranimahal and Gajasala (i.e. Elepant staying place).

Kondapalli is home to kondapalli reserve forest one of the last remaining pristine forest in krishna district, spread over area of 30000 acres. It is home to several leopards, wild dogs, jackals,wild boar, fwolf,etc[1]

Kondapalli is an industrial suburb of vijayawada. One of the largest industrial estates in andhra pradesh spread over 450 acres and having 800 industries is present in kondapalli [2].Second largest wagon workshop of Indian railways is present in Rayanapadu about 3km from Kondapalli[3]. In addition a 1800mw Vijayawada Thermal power project(VTPS) and 368.144 MW gas based lanco power plant which is under expansion to 768.144 MW are located here[4]. Andhra Pradesh Heavy Machinery & Engineering Limited (APHMEL)factory is present in kondapalli. Kondapalli is hub for storage, bottling and transportation of petroleum products of all major companies . Major companies having presence in kondapalli are BPCL,GAIL,HPCL,IOC,RELIANCE,etc
