KMHD is a listener-supported, non-profit FM broadcast radio station located in the Portland, Oregon area. The studio is on the Mount Hood Community College campus in Gresham, Oregon, and the transmitter is located atop Portland's Tualatin Mountains. Although owned by Mount Hood Community College, the station is not a part of the college's radio broadcasting educational program, and operates independently with a paid office and administrative staff; the on-air broadcasting duties are volunteers numbering over 45 unpaid announcers. The station has been providing the Portland, Oregon community with jazz, blues, and traditional American music since 1984. KMHD is among the oldest listener-supported Jazz radio stations in the United States.[citation needed] In addition to its broadcast signal at 89.1, KMHD also simulcasts locally on an H-D channel, as well as through streaming audio on the station's website.
