João Alves

João Artur Rosa Alves (born August 18, 1980 in Chaves) is a Portuguese soccer player who plays central midfielder for Vitória de Guimarães. He has also played for Sporting Clube de Portugal and SC Braga, and first became known at hometown club of Desportivo de Chaves, making his debut in the first division on November 11, 1998, in the match D.Chaves-União Leiria (1-2), coming in as a substitute in the 63rd minute.
He signed a 3-year contract with Guimarães in July 2007, with previous team Sporting keeping 50% of the player's rights and Sp.Braga and V.Guimarães sharing the other half.
