My name is Jim Lynch. I live in New York on the Upper West Side. I was once a corporate lawyer but found it boring. Then I was in venture captial. That was fun.

Then things slowed down and I decided to restore an old wooden boat so that's what I did. Now I have a business taking people sailing. The boat - Italic textAdventuress Italic textis in Newport, Rhode Island and I spend a lot of time there in the summer. She was built in 1924 by William Fife & Sons of Fairlie, Scotland. I initially contributed a good deal of the material in the William Fife entry. The boat has a ghost. It is supposed to be the spirit of the first captain who was shot dead onboad for carrying on with a married woman. The business loses money all the time so I've decided to sell the boat and try something new. I'm not sure what I'll do next. Maybe I'll write a book about restoring the boat.

I infrequently contribute to Wikipedia. The idea of a collaberative encyclopedia is an interesting one - much the way the O.E.D. was constructed. I think, however, that there is a lot of misinformation floating around that needs to be corrected. I hope people with expertise in particular fields will take an interest and correct the mistakes others have made.
