Jesus College Boat Club (Oxford)

Jesus College Boat Club (commonly abbreviated to JCBC) is a rowing club for members of Jesus College, Oxford. It is one of the oldest rowing clubs in the world, and is based in the college boathouse on the Isis.

Jesus competed in Oxford's first ever Head Race (against Brasenose College Boat Club) in 1815, although the formal foundation of the club has only been traced as far as 1835 [1]. For comparison, the Leander Club was founded in 1818.
[edit] Recent achievements
In 2006, the Women's 2nd VIII crew for 'Summer Eights', captained by Kathryn Mcardle, coxed by Aaron Boasman and coached by Women's Boat Club co-Captain Emma Blades, won (the first woman to do so in 13 years). They achieved five bumps (with only four—one on each day—needed to win 'blades') and moved up a division.
