From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Humboldt Botanical Garden (18 ha / 44.5 acres) is under construction south of Eureka, California, USA near the Humboldt Bay at the College of the Redwoods. Grading and site preparation for the Garden began in August 2003, and installations of gardens are scheduled for 2006-2008. Completed sections of the Humboldt Botanical Garden are scheduled to open to the public in 2008.
The Garden was first organized in 1991. Its Native Garden will have an emphasis on the Humboldt region, but will include plants in the geographic area from the Rogue River to the north shore of San Francisco Bay, and inland to a north-south line running from Vacaville through Williams, Redding, Yreka, Medford, and along the Rogue River to its mouth. The Garden is particularly interested in maintaining complete native conifer, Iris and Lilium occidentale (western lily) collections.
