Hitachiōta, Ibaraki

Hitachiōta (常陸太田市 Hitachiōta-shi?) is a city located in Ibaraki, Japan.
As of April 1, 2005, the city has an estimated population of 60,372 [1] and the density of 162 persons per km². The total area is 372.01 km².
The city was founded on July 15, 1954. On December 1, 2004 the town of Kanasagou and villages of Satomi and Suifu from neighboring Kuji District merged into the city, more than tripling its size and increasing its population by about 20,000.
