Hero Hiralal is a 1988 directed by Ketan Mehta. It is a movie about an auto rickshaw driver who falls in love with a film actress.
The movie had good performances by the lead actors. Saeed Jaffrey, Satish Shah were also good in their supporting roles.

Roopa (played by Sanjana Kapoor) comes to Hyderabad to shoot her film, where she meets Hiralal (played by Naseeruddin Shah), who is fondly called Hero Hiralal, for his love for movies. Filling in the need for villain is Prem Kumar(played by Kiran Kumar), who is acting opposite Roopa in the film. Hero joins the crew of the film and takes Roopa's friendliness to be love.
Things start to get interesting when the crew leaves for Bombay and Hero follows them to declare his love on his Auto. He is not allowed to meet Roopa, who is under house arrest. He decides his life without love is a waste and plans to die in a grand way with help from Rani Sitara Devi, a publicity agent. His death is commercialized and everyone is invited to see it. Finally, on the day of death, love wins and we get a Happy Ending.
