The Hasdingi were the southern tribes of the Vandals, an East Germanic tribe. They lived in areas of today's southern Poland, Slovakia and Hungary. They were part of the migratory movements of the Vandals, into the Iberian peninsula and later on to North Africa. They settled in Gallaecia, in 409, as foederati, today Galiza and north of Portugal. Gunderic, king of the Hasdingi, after a battle with the Suebi and Romans loses his kingdom to the Suebi king Hermeric. He flees to Baetica with his army where he becomes king of the Silingi Vandals and of the Alans.
The Hasdingi were also a dynasty which ruled the Vandals.
