[edit] Peter Allen or Peter Allan
Confusion! I wrote a page based on Peter Allan -- which was how it was reported in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography - but it could be wrong. I hadn't seen your page until later because I assumed it would be under Marsden Grotto not "The Marsden Grotto"! There are equal references to both "Peter Allan" "Marsden Grotto" and "Peter Allen" "Marsden Grotto" on Google, so I don't know which is right. I also don't know what to believe because the damn Oxford dictionary has a more fantastic story than other things I am finding on the web. We should also create some redirects, based on the biographies. I think you are right to just combine all of the personalities connected into one page. Best, Tfine80 01:59, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
Another thought.... Perhaps we should simply write an article on Marsden Bay, and merge/redirect everything about the Grotto and the cave house into one larger article. Right now, we have these articles, but nothing about the bay itself, only about Allen/Allan and the bar! Tfine80 02:09, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
- Unfortunately I was unaware of your article when I started the article on The Grotto, or I would have asked the same question. In the end I decided to use Allen rather than Allan due to the referral to Peter Allen in a publication made by the former County Borough of South Shields and one of my friends, who is a descendent of Allen, spells his name Allen. I intend to find out for sure and visit his grave in Whitburn in the very near future. I like your idea of a Marsden Bay page. Perhaps information of the ghosts of the grotto could be included on this page along with the beach, rock, cliffs, seagull colonies and all the other stuff that makes Marsden Bay what it is. Glenn Scott 19:03, 8 August 2005 (UTC)

- Hey... Sorry I didn't check back earlier. That's a good idea. Any progress on discovering the true name? Did you ever look at the Allen page I made for accuracy? Tfine80 01:42, 24 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject Tyne and Wear
Hi there, I'm currently considering making a wikiproject called Wikipedia:WikiProject Tyne and Wear and I'm just wondering if you would be interested in joining if and when I'ts created as I noticed from a user category you live in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. It would be all about improving and creating wikipedia articles relating to Tyne and Wear. If you have any questions, comments or would like to show interest then please tell me on my talk page and if you know any other users who maybe interested in joining please feel free to tell them as it will need a few members in order to make it run smoothly. I will also be willing to create the project page and templates etc if there are enough active members. Thanks. TellyaddictEditor review! 15:35, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
- Excellent! Please consider putting your name down here; all proposed projects need at least five interested wikipedians so theres already two and three if you put your name down. Thanks for your interest and hopefully it will be up and running by the end of February.TellyaddictEditor review! 20:30, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, I'm pleased to inform you that WikiProject Tyne and Wear is now an official Project on the English Wikipedia. Please add your name to the official participants list on the Project Page.TellyaddictEditor review! 20:06, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia:WikiProject Tyne and Wear
Hi Glenn Scott, I'm pleased to inform you that the proposal for a new WikiProject in which you listed yourself as an interested wikipedian (WikiProject:Tyne and Wear) has gained enough interested users in order to become a proper project on the English Wikipedia. I will be creating the project page, userboxes and templates shortly and hopefully creating a project logo. Thanks for showing your interest and I'll contact you when the Project page and other stuff is created! TellyaddictEditor review! 15:50, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

- I would like to inform you that WikiProject Tyne and Wear is considering a name change to WikiProject North East England which was suggested by a non-member, this is being discussed now on WikiProject Talk Page so any comments and/or thoughts would be greatly appreciated in order to reach a community consensus, Thanks you.TellyaddictEditor review! 19:39, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] North East England newsletter
Glenn Scott, as mentioned on the Project Page, all the members will receive a newsletter informing them of all the latest news about WikiProject North East England. Their are a small selection of news stories in which I would like to bring to your attention:
As you will most probably know, the Project will be one month old in less than twenty four hours, so far the project appears to have been successful so far, almost five hundred articles have been tagged informing viewers that the article is within the scope of this project, the Project now has eight members which is good but I'm sure that will double or even triple within the time of the next newsletter
As mentioned above, urgent help is needed for tagging articles and rating them for their quality and their importance, by viewing:
and all of the subpages, a range of untagged articles can be found, there will be at least a thousand their in which require tagging and I/we need your help in doing this!
That is all for this newsletter, if you would like to bring anything to my attention or have any comments to make then please leave me a message on my talk page or leave a note on the Project talk page and I/someone will get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you for reading and I hope you are still enjoying being a member. Regards - Tellyaddict 20:46, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Go North East MetroLink.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:Go North East MetroLink.gif. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 20:07, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:Go-Ahead_Northern_1.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Go-Ahead_Northern_1.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 12:58, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Go North East The Loop.gif)
Thanks for uploading Image:Go North East The Loop.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:42, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
