A Long Lost Friend Progression: 0%

Summary:

Rinoa's experience after the battle with Edea and Seifer has >left her in a coma< (highlight to reveal). With time on his hands, a worried Squall takes the opportunity to visit his long-forgotten orphanage.


Interlude 4 Progression: 5%

Summary:

Scouring the world to find a route into Esthar, Laguna finds himself in the mountainous reaches of Trabia Canyon, short on funds. He accepts a flim-maker's offer to appear in his swashbuckling production, not even suspecting how this frivolous activity may impact on future events...

Notes:

  • Note that Laguna's sword stance is eerily similar to that of Seifer. Could it possibly be that the Garden renegade picked up not just his fighting stance, but his entire dream of becoming a Sorceress' Knight, from Laguna's mealticket for getting to Esthar?
  • Laguna's companions during this interlude can vary. If you have collected the Timber Maniacs magazine at Shumi Village by this point, then only Kiros will be here. If you haven't yet found that issue, then both Kiros and Ward will join Laguna.


Floating Guardians Progression: 7%

Summary:

With Rinoa showing no signs of recovery, Squall decides to seek out Ellone in the hope that her special abilities can somehow help the girl that he is starting to find increasingly hard to live without.


A Lonely Journey Progression: 15%

Summary:

Squall is determined to find Ellone, despite learning that she is most likely now in the almost-legendary city-continent of Esthar. Information gleaned from one of Laguna's articles suggests that the route to lost Esthar begins at Fisherman's Horizon, so it is there that Squall heads.

Notes:

  • There are two ways to begin the journey from Fisherman's Horizon. You can direct the Garden into FH yourself, but the story will progress a little more fluidly, and reward you with an extra scene, if you stop just outside FH, then visit Rinoa in the Infirmary.


The Salt Flats Progression: 18%

Summary:

An unexpected but welcome newcomer joins the party as they begin the search for the city of Esthar on its own isolated continent.


Interlude 5 Progression: 25%

Summary:

Now fully aware of the circumstances behind the strange 'dream state', Squall 'joins' Laguna shortly after his arrival and apparent incarceration in Esthar. The events that unfold begin to shed light on the clouded history of the Sorceress War.


Discovering Paradise Progression: 35%

Summary:

The discovery of a mysterious, near-invisible wall proves to be the key to unlocking Esthar's secret. The party enter a high-tech wonderland...


An Unexpected Direction Progression: 40%

Summary:

Upon meeting the famous and highly eccentric Doctor Odine, Squall learns that he must travel just a little further to catch up with Ellone. At Edea's urging, he reluctantly leaves Rinoa in Odine's care, though the Doctor appears to know more than he is willing to say about the girl's condition.


Terror From The Deep Progression: 42%

Summary:

With Squall and partner shepherding Rinoa to Esthar's Lunar Station, Zell leads Edea and the others back to Esthar, providing Edea the opportunity to petition Odine for his help in removing her Sorceress powers before the future Sorceress can re-take them. Before long, however, the friends - along with the rest of Esthar - discover just what has been keeping Seifer and the Galbadians busy of late...

Notes:

  • At last you get to revisit Lunatic Pandora. Yes, revisit, as this is the place you knew formerly as the Centra Excavation Site.


My God, It's Full Of Stars... Progression: 52%

Summary:

Squall and company arrive at the amazing Esthar space station, and Rinoa moved to the infirmary. Squall at last catches up with Ellone, but the wonders and dangers are just beginning.

Notes:

  • Card players need to shatter the dramatic tension and battle Ellone in this single opportunity to gain a rare card.


Remote Control Progression: 55%

Summary:

Squall fills in Ellone on Rinoa's condition and begs her for help. But before Ellone can even try, Rinoa's coma is revealed as a mere precursor to something much more sinister.


A Delicate Rescue Progression: 65%

Summary:

Callously discarded by the force that controlled her, Rinoa drifts helplessly in space while Squall and the others evacuate the Esthar station seconds before its destruction. Can Ellone help Squall to 'reach out' to his love, or can he and Rinoa find a way by themselves?


The Dormant Beast Progression: 70%

Summary:

Together again, but drifting in space with precious little air, the couple are shocked to discover an apparently abandoned Esthar spaceship. Squall finds a way inside, but discovers that the 'Ragnarok' is not entirely uninhabited...


Dual Surrender Progression: 75%

Summary:

Esthar's airstation learns of the Ragnarok's reposession, and begins an automatic sequence that will bring the ship back to the planet's surface. During the trip, Squall finally lowers at least some of his defenses, allowing Rinoa to come as close as she has ever been, emotionally and physically, and the two share feelings from their pasts. Of course, Rinoa's 'secret' has been revealed: >she is now a Sorceress<, and Esthar is already taking steps to ensure its own safety.


Reunion Progression: 78%

Summary:

A heated discussion with his friends provides the final push Squall needs to fully accept and demonstrate his love for Rinoa. They take the Ragnarok to the Sorceress Memorial, where the worried people of Esthar plan to >incarcerate Rinoa against the risk that her powers will turn against them,< as did Adel's.

Notes:

  • This event does not have to be completed immediately. You can still travel the world and complete sub-quests before carrying it out, however the game will not let the main story progress much further until you do it.
  • After the team is reunited, you will eventually pay a visit to Edea in Centra. When you first enter the orphanage from the World Map, notice the direction from which Angelo appears - a new location is available.
  • Prior to Squall and Rinoa's conversation in the meadow, there will be an exhange with another party member. You may want to save your game on the World Map immediately before entering the orphanage, as this exchange is specific to each party member; some humourous, some poignant.


Trouble In Paradise Progression: 80%

Summary:

Whilst visiting Edea, the party receive a summons to return to Esthar, from none other than the mysterious President himself, who requests their help. With Esthar on their side, could the tide finally turn against Sorceress Ultimecia?

Notes:

  • After meeting the president, take time out to ask about everything other than his proposed plan of action - leave that until last. There is a lot of backstory information to be learned here.


On The Offensive Progression: 90%

Summary:

Setting Esthar President >Laguna's< plan into motion, the SeeDs, Rinoa and the Estharians take thre Ragnarok to Tears Point. There, they blast their way through Lunatic Pandora's defenses and land within the strange structure, but their troubles are just beginning: will the party this time be strong enough to overcome the device that previously ejected them from Pandora over the Sorceress Memorial?

Notes:

  • This is the last point in the story that you are free to move around the locations on the World Map. All sub-quests involving the various villages, towns and cities should be completed before making the attack on Lunatic Pandora.
  • The President's friends are to be found in the Ragnarok's passenger lounge (below and to the left of the cockpit). Don't miss the opportunity to hear an intriguing implication from them before making the attack on Lunatic Pandora.


Saving The World - take 3 Progression: 95%

Summary:

Having defeated the mechanical guardian, the course is set for a reckoning with Seifer and the re-awakening Adel... When the team find Seifer's hiding place, an empassioned plea from Seifer's friends Fujin and Raijin force a pained admission from the renegade, but does not stop him setting himself against Squall one more time.

Notes:

  • If you have acquired Guardian Force Odin then prepare for some surprising events during the battle with Seifer!
  • Seifer is an excellent source of Aura magic. If you have not managed to acquire or refine much of this powerful spell so far, do so here.
