Fred Hughes

Fred Hughes was an R&B singer from Arkansas. Hughes recorded for Vee-Jay Records in the 1960s before its demise, scoring a hit in 1965 with the singles "Oo Wee Baby, I Love You" (a Top 20 R&B hit and #23 Pop) and "You Can't Take it Away" (another Top 20 R&B hit, #96 pop).[1][2] Moving to Wand Records, Hughes released a full-length album as well as his last hit, "Send my Baby Back" (#20 R&B, #94 pop).[1] Hughes signed with Brunswick Records in 1969 but scored no further pop hits.
