OPJHL
Alright, I've passed this by the WikiProject and no one said anything. Do you have any idea what happened with the OPJHL between 1988 and 1993? I know they joined the CJAHL in 1993, but they seemed to drop off the map before that... any ideas? DMighton 22:43, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, I don't have any recollection of Tier II hockey or lower prior to the mid 1990's. Flibirigit 22:52, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
Barrie Colts and the OPJHL
So, as it turns out... the OHA Junior "A" League folded in 1987 due to corruption and teams failing. The remaining teams joined the Central Junior B Hockey League. The Central Junior B League was promoted to Junior "A" at the start of the 1993-94 Season and renamed the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League. The Barrie Colts remained in the OPJHL for two season after the promotion before they too were promoted to the OHL.
Anyways, I left their season-by-season WLT records in the Colts talk page for you. Please use it, I imagine you will. I now have the standings for the CJBHL and OPJHL from 1979 until present and will be updating the pages of anywhere from 40 to 60 teams. DMighton 06:32, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
Streetsville
Question: Do the Derbys play out of Brampton as well? Or is this set-up just for the RBC 2006? DMighton 05:18, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
- The Derbys play at Streetsville Memorial Arena. The Royal Bank Cup is being played at the larger arena in Brampton for revenue. Flibirigit 05:23, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
- I was totally unaware of that. Thanks for the info. DMighton 05:49, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
Relocation
Streetsville, although still carrying the name, is now playing in Rexdale, Ontario. DMighton 04:29, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
- I missed that memo :-s. Flibirigit 04:33, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
- lol... yeah, a lot of traditional Derbys fans are really pissed. DMighton 04:35, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
Aurora Goalie
Thanks for the name of the goalie... can you find out the Broncos captain's name on Royal Bank Cup 2003? Or any of the names on Royal Bank Cup 2006? DMighton 15:36, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry don't know them. I used to be Chris Whitley's boss when he worked for me. He also played one game for the Oshawa Generals. Flibirigit 16:37, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- Alright, well... I now have the Royal Bank Cup recorded back to 1998... so if you know of any good images from any year... please add. DMighton 02:15, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
Junior B Teams
Hello, a user has decided that he does not want us placing hockey stubs on Wikipedia to expand later into teams. In particular he doesn't like Junior teams... I was wondering if you could please voice your opinion. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Thunder Bay Northern Hawks DMighton 01:23, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
OHA Affiliations
I am currently trying to round up former names of all the Ontario junior leagues. To be honest with you, the way I do it with teams and past names is not as aesthetically pleasing when I apply it to the leagues -- but I might be a little over critical: ex: Southern Ontario Junior Hockey League.
I'm also trying to find Season-by-Season standings for Ontario Junior "C", but so far only the Central C and Eastern Ontario C have been forthcoming... most don't even write back. Despite some polishing, I have the S-by-S for all of Junior B... I will need to start doing histories soon... but I am heading up to Lion's Head in the Bruce soon for a vacation... so... lol... we'll see what I can get done before and what will have to wait.
One thing though... I wouldn't mind it if we could figure out a way to list OHL-OHA team affiliations in the team templates of the OHL and OHA teams... what do you think? DMighton 16:54, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- The template is set up for all Canadian Hockey League teams right now. It could be applied to all teams, if anyone has the info for affiliated teams. But, some clubs change affiliations frequently too. Could be a lot of work to straighten it out. Do you know anything about farm systems outside of Ontario? Flibirigit 20:21, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- I can find out on the OPJHL message board for the OHL... but for the Q or the WHL it might be a little harder... Resolute might know... Quebec... we'll find a way. DMighton 02:27, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

- Flib, sorry... I've been up in sunny Lion's Head, Ontario for the last half week and will be there until next Saturday. For the WHL, see what User:Resolute knows... for the QMJHL... we will probably have to contact the leagues or find a message board. DMighton 16:31, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- How about putting affiliated teams in the "See also" section of the article? It would be simpler, and avoid empty space in the template where the information is not available. Flibirigit 13:21, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
- Honestly... I'd rather see it in a more notable place than "See also"... If there is no team to place in the template... then we can just not add that section to the template. DMighton 03:04, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

- According to Resolute, the WHL does not use a concrete affiliation system... players are just assigned to local leagues in the BCHL, AJHL, SJHL, and MJHL... I'm not sure if he is certain of this... but I think there is a good chance that he is right... that is a very, very spaced out league... affiliation would probably be tough... DMighton 00:53, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
- Speaking of this, I noticed that you added an affiliation row to the CHL infobox template. Is there any chance that this row can be made into an optional heading, as the empty field doesnt look very good on the WHL team articles. Failing that, a separate WHL team template may have to be created. Thanks! Resolute 03:55, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
- Yes there is a way to make it optional. But I haven't had enough time to figure out the coding. I was hoping to get around to it Sunday night. Flibirigit 04:47, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
- I have learned about Parser Functions, and completed the change. Flibirigit 03:36, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
- Changes look good. Good job! Resolute 04:40, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

Junior B Hockey
Jason... could you check this out for me: User:DMighton/Test Template... I want to put a template on each Junior "B" team page... but I think this template can be made much better than it is... could you edit it or make suggestions that could make this thing more aesthetically pleasing?... thanx. DMighton 15:49, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
- It looks fine to me. But sometimes smaller is better. You could split up the leagues. Flibirigit 18:45, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
The "Phantom" Season
I just got an e-mail back from the proprietor of the Hockeydb.com... he says according to the Toronto Sun archives, the SOJHL operated in 1976-77. He says that the Guelph Platers/CMC's, Owen Sound Greys, Hamilton Mountain A's, and a Collingwood team (probably the Blues) were members and he added that there were probably more. He also said that the Platers were that year's champions and faced the North York Rangers in OHA Final... any thoughts? I think he may be right... but stats and info are is hard to find from that league... DMighton 17:14, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
- I see potential for the Chatham Maroons, Welland Sabres, and maybe the Niagara Falls Flyers maybe playing that year... if NFF didn't actually fold in 1976. I'm thinking of driving to Chatham in the next month and have a look in their library. DMighton 17:22, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
- I don't know much about hockey below Junior A (Tier I), and I haven't had time to go through many archives. As far as hockeydb.com, I have my own inclinations when its data is wrong. Good luck with the research. Flibirigit 18:11, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
OHA Stuff
I came across something a few weeks ago. You probably already know this, but I don't see anything anywhere for it. When Jr. A and Jr. B were divided in 1933... the name of the Jr. A league became the Big 7 Junior A Hockey League or OHA Big 7 because at that time there were probably only seven teams of the appropriate calibre -- the Jr. B league became the Big 10 Junior B Hockey League or the OHA Big 10... it was divided into a Western and Central conference... they split into their own leagues in 1956.... the West became the SOJHL in 1970 and folded in 1977... the Central survived until 1993 when it was renamed the OPJHL. You already know what happened to the Big 7. Through much of the history since 1956 there was also a Metro league and an Eastern league.... these leagues merged under the Metro name when the original OPJHL was formed in 1972 and raided the Metro. Obviously the Metro folded in 1998. There was also a Niagara league, but it divided into two and became the Golden Horseshoe around 1974. The other league it divided into was also called the Niagara, folded after one season. I've also found the existence of two shortlived leagues... .the Mid-Ontario (68-78) and the Southwestern (76-78)... The current Western league was founded in 1969... not much has changed there.... the Mid-Western started under the name Southwestern in 1973, changed to Waterloo-Wellington in 1974, and then to Mid-Western in 1977.... and that is just the beginning... I'm also working on Jr. C, Jr. D, Intermediate, and Senior histories for Southern Ontario.... so much stuff. DMighton 08:29, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
