[edit] Background
Originally, the main event of Final Resolution was scheduled to be Jeff Jarrett defending the NWA World Heavyweight Championship against Randy Savage. Savage had made his return to professional wrestling by debuting in TNA at Victory Road 2004, and challenging The Kings of Wrestling (Jeff Jarrett, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash) to a match.[4] At Turning Point 2004, Savage teamed up with Jeff Hardy and A.J. Styles to take on Outsiders in a 6-man tag team match. Savage's team won when Savage pinned Jarrett.[5] Savage was scheduled to compete at Final Resolution. Savage left the company and retired from professional wrestling shortly after Turning Point however.[6]
The secondary feud heading into the PPV was between Petey Williams, A.J. Styles and Chris Sabin for the TNA X Division Championship. Williams had originally made successful title defenses against Styles at Victory Road 2004 and Sabin at Turning Point 2004 in singles matches but now at Final Resolution, Williams was scheduled to defend the championship against both of them in a triple threat match.[4][5]
[edit] Event
Before the event went live on pay-per-view, The Naturals (Chase Stevens and Andy Douglas) defeated Johnny B. Badd and Sonny Siaki in a pre-Show match. The second Pre-Show match featured Chris Candido defeating Cassidy Riley.[7]
The first match that aired on pay-per-view was a six man tag team match between 3Live Kru (Ron Killings, Konnan and B.G. James) and the team of Christopher Daniels, Michael Shane and Kazarian. Konnan and Daniels began the match, as Konnan hit him a shoulder block. Daniels tagged in with Shane. Kru triple-teamed Shane and Killings tagged in. He hit Shane, a diving extreme legdrop and then with quick punches, he took Shane down. Killings hit Shane a crossbody but Shane hit Killings' jaw on his head. He tagged in with Kazarian who hit Killings a drop toe hold. Killings tagged in with BG. BG and Killings punched Kazarian and then gave him some stiff kicks. Konnan also came in but received kicks. BG prevented Kazarian from tagging in. Shane moved to another corner and Kazarian had tagged him but referee didn't allow it. Daniels was tagged in and then Daniels and Kazarian double-teamed BG. Daniels dropkicked BG and tagged in with Kazarian. Kazarian kicked BG in the chest and tagged with Shane. Shane tagged in with Daniels who hit BG a few elbow smashes. Daniels jumped at BG off the ropes and BG powerbombed Daniels. Daniels tagged in with Shane while BG tagged in with Killings. Killings took out all Shane, Kazarian and Daniels with big punches and then hit Shane a scissors kick and covered him for the pin but Daniels broke it up. Kazarian hit Killings a big boot while Konnan hit Daniels, a Facejam. Konnan and Shane both clotheslined each other. All the six men started fighting in separate corners. Killings and BG took out Kazarian and Daniels out of the ring while Konnan hit Shane, a reverse neckbreaker but got a near-fall. Daniels accidentally knocked out Kazarian out of the ring by hitting him a split-leggged springboard moonsault. While in the ring, Konnan and BG held Shane and Killings hit Shane a sidekick for the win.[7][3]
The second match was between Elix Skipper and Sonjay Dutt. Skipper pushed Dutt down and then the two started locking up. When Dutt missed a charge off the top, Skipper rolled him for a near-fall. Dutt hit Skipper a headscissors takedown and dumped him to the outside of the ring. Dutt dropkicked Skipper through the ropes and charged him to the outside. Dutt came on the guard railing and covered Skipper for another near-fall. Dutt applied a headlock but Skipper reached to the ropes. Dutt climbed on the top rope and dropkicked Skipper. He hit Skipper, an Osaka Stunner and went for a Hindu Press but Skipper jumped on the top rope and dropkicked Dutt. In the outside, Skipper hit him a spinning heel kick but got a near-fall in the ring. He tried to hit Dutt a Play of the Day, but Dutt countered it and springboarded through the ropes, but Skipper got on to his knees for the counter. He hit Dutt, a gutwrench powerbomb. Dutt sent Skipper to the apron where Skipper hit him a lariat. Skipper sent him to the ropes, where Dutt gave him a sunset flip powerbomb followed by an elbow smash, a spinning heel kick and a back suplex for a near-fall. He went for a Hindu Press and he hit the move, but Skipper got up and hit him an Ura-nage for the victory.[7][3]
The third match was between Dustin Rhodes and Kid Kash. The match began, with Rhodes giving Kash, a lariat and clotheslined him to the outside of the ring. Kash ran out and then gave Rhodes, some punches and kicks. Rhodes hit him an elbow smash on the head and catapulted him to the ropes. Kash bounced off while Rhodes held on and Kash hit him a Money Drop. Rhodes went to the top rope, but Kash charged him. He went for a superplex, but Rhodes took him down. Kash pretended that his left knee was injured. The referee checked him but when the referee turned, Kash low blowed Rhodes. He dropkicked Rhodes into the knee and then started working on the knee. He twisted it around the mat, until Rhodes fought with some punches. He pinned Kash with a backslide but Kash kicked out. Kash started working on Rhodes' knee again but Rhodes countered it into a small package, for a near-fall. He put Rhodes into a corner and put his knee in the ropes to injure them. He tried to irish whip Rhodes into the other corner but Rhodes fell down. Kash hit a frog splash on Rhodes' knee and then applied a figure four leglock on Rhodes. After breaking two pinfall attempts, Rhodes turned the figure four leglock and applied it on Kash. Kash kicked on Rhodes' knee but Rhodes applied a sleeper hold on Kash. Kash countered off the ropes and applied a sleeper hold on Rhodes, of his own. The referee lifted Rhodes' arm into the air and Rhodes made a comeback. Rhodes tried to hit him an atomic drop, but due to his knee, he failed to do so. Kash hit a flying crossbody on Rhodes and Rhodes rolled around for a close near-fall. Rhodes tried to hit a reverse neckbreaker, but Kash countered it into a spinning heel kick. Kash pushed the referee and the referee pushed him in return, until Rhodes hit Kash a bulldog for the victory.[7][3]
