[edit] Welcome!

Hello, Example, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Its a template. Normal users (like me when im bored) send them to people via Special:Log/newusers. --JayTur1 (Contribs) 20:58, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Even nobodies get welcomed on wiki!

Actually, it's not really an automatically generated message, some people don't even get them. The fact is that some boring people like me have no better things to do than to go on a little webpage that shows all new users. Then, people put {{subst:Welcome}} on their user talk page to welcome them. The {{BASEPAGENAME}} variable is used just to speed things up. By the way, { {PAGENAME}} doesn't work because there's a space there. Also, when trying to give examples, use the <nowiki></nowiki> and <code></code> tags. --Leon2323 20:19, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject Succession Box Standardization

Greetings, Example. I could not help noticing the significant work you have done on userboxes, infoboxes, and templates in general; it is truly magnificent. We have thus thought that you may be interested in editing succession boxes, those little boxes at the bottom of articles that show peoples' predecessors and successors. SBS is dealing with those very useful templates but is currently badly understaffed and in urgent need of contributors. Therefore, we would thus be delighted if you should decide to join us and assist us in our noble task; we are certain that your experience and expertise shall be extremely useful to us. [edit] Philosophy

What is the nature of the universe?
What is the nature of the universe?

What is "real"? If this user exists, (and should we not concede the user does in fact, exist, as we are reading this page) then is said user "real"? Does existence validate reality? Are we real? Are we really reading this user's page? Does the fact that User:Example is listed in a great variety of areas on Wikipedia increase the user's worth? Does edit count equal validity? If a user has no edits, does it mean the user doesn't exist?

If User:Example falls in a forest, is a sound heard?
If User:Example falls in a forest, is a sound heard?

What really exists? What is reality? Can anything be "known" with certainty?

The act of observing, disturbs the observed. Therefore, perhaps our viewing this page is, in itself, disturbing User:Example in such a way that causes the user to not respond.

I for one, choose to believe this user exists. And I shall continue to make an example (pun intended) of the user whenever the situation arises. ArielGold 01:24, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] March 2008

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I've noticed that you've been adding your signature to some of your article contributions, such as the edit you made to Wikipedia:Signatures. This is a simple mistake to make and is easy to correct. For future reference, the need to associate edits with users is taken care of by an article's edit history. Therefore, you should use your signature only when contributing to talk pages, the Village Pump, or other such discussion pages. For a better understanding of what distinguishes articles from these type of pages, please see What is an article?. Again, thanks for contributing, and enjoy your Wikipedia experience! Thank you. — scetoaux (T/C) 04:48, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to User:Smartguy777, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. [edit] Unacceptable username

Your account has been blocked indefinitely because it is a blatant violation of our username policy - it is obviously profane, attacks or impersonates another person, or clearly suggests that your intention is not to contribute to the encyclopedia (see our blocking and username policies for more information). We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia, but users are not allowed to edit with inappropriate usernames and trolling or other disruptive behavior is unacceptable.

He, for some reason, I am unable to center those boxes! Weird. - Face 17:03, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
They must have the "float" CSS attribute set to "left", so any "center" tag will do nothing to them --Enric Naval (talk) 17:56, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
I didn't knew that float properties override align attributes. As a work around, I have now put the boxes in a box. We still can't center them that way of course, but I have centered the whole thing somewhat by giving it a left margin, and also made it invisible. I think this is better. How do you like it? - Face 17:18, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
It looks good now. Float makes lots of strange things to layouts. --Enric Naval (talk) 20:01, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
