Ernst Friedrich Lohndorff (in German, his family name is written 'Löhndorff', with o-umlaut) was a German writer. He was born on 13 March 1899 in Frankfurt am Main and died in 1976 in Laufenburg, Switzerland.
Starting in 1914, at the age of 15, he travelled the world in adventurous ways. He served in the Foreign Legion. His travels inspired him when writing more than 30 novels. The first appeared in 1927. Until 1938 Lohndorff was a member of the NSDAP.
