Talk:Environmental issues in India
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Here is some room for improvement for the article :
1)There should be a state by state listing for the article. In particular, there should be a brief overview for each one of the states so as to take into account some of the following statistics so that there is an adequate presentation of the climate/environmental statistics and other information that could be used in order to determine the status of each geographical area. Useful statistics would have to cover the following areas :
-Water Supplies :
-- Annual Rainfall and rainfall variation during the course of the year.
--Water Table levels and those sources of water that enable water tables to be re-charged
--Rivers and springs that lie within the state and provide useful water supplies
--The likely utility of de-centralised water collection methods for augmenting traditional water supplies (for example – is it the case that collect roof-top water can enable more people to drink clean water? Could such water be used to replenish water tables or could it be used within agriculture?).
--Whether or not there are requirements to decrease lead/heavy metal contamination to certain water sources in order to render such water sources useful to agriculture or fit for human consumption? What technologies/filtering mechanisms would be required for such water filtration?
-Agricultural Land Quality :
--What is the nature of the soil being examined (is it clay/sandy, etc...). What minerals/nutrients are there present in the soil? What crops are such soils suitable for growing? Is such soil immune to the increased soil erosion effects that are a by-product of drought and water scarcity?
--Land area (this is obvious as a statistic and can probably be pulled from pre-existing wikipedia sites).
Clearly there are many more areas that could be mentioned in articles covering India or China, but the above listing provides what would be a good structure for describing the current agricultural state of affairs within those countries via the use of a general taxonomy, etc...
