Irish Rail has recently opened a train station in the area. The Docklands station commenced service on 12 March 2007, and serves the Maynooth commuter rail line (except Drumcondra station) as far as Clonsilla. The purpose of the station is to ease congestion on other stations in central Dublin.
Another development is the C1 extension of the Red Line Luas to the Point Depot scheduled for completion in 2009. This will provide a connection to central Dublin, Connolly Station and possibly the Luas Green Line if it is extended.
