Over view
Big brother is probably the most well known reality T.V show in the world. By the use of editing and media publicity, Australia’s’ Big Brother 07’ contestants are stereotyped and made to act differently than they really do. To make the show more entertaining and keep people watching, they make the housemates loud, obnoxious and rude and show small conflicts as huge arguments.
They also use media to advertise interactive voting, to vote to evict or save a certain housemate for the cost of a text message or a telephone call. Interactivity is also shown on the nightly shows and evictions with live audiences.
Blending of genres?
Big Brother, in the past has offered up to a million dollars as a prize for the winning housemate. Friday Night Live is a weekly competition for the housemates to win a prize of an “awards room”. The shows host is made out to be a fun, new aged guy
