The Marching Song of Knowledge
I tips me lid to Banjo Paterson, Ironbark Gibson and C. J. Dennis.
- Thou art fairest of all media –
- Our beloved young Wikipedia!
- T'was all begun early twenty-o-one
- In unpaid travails of young Jimmy Wales.
- Here raise a cheer for this visonary seer
- And 'is thousands of earnest supporters –
- (For while he’s a sage of the globalised age)
- He needed a few good reporters!
-
- Wiki, Wiki–pe–di–a!
- Thou art freest of all media –
- Our quickly growin' Wikipedia!
- So enter now the ‘Users’ (and scatterin’ uv abusers)
- Wikipedia joined the free media
- And words are inexpensive
- So it’s mighty comprehensive.
- You wouldn’t say it’s tricky to contribute to a wiki
- And "thems errors" is lesser than d'gems!
-
- Wiki, Wiki–pe–di–a!
- Thou art truest of all media –
- Our sweetly written Wikipedia!
- So share the vision splendid of our knowledge far extended
- While just to have y’ say, you needn’t even pay
- (But servers aren't so cheap and for Wiki' 'ere to keep –
- Well, donation might just save you from Damnation!)
-
- Oh, that Polynesian word that was prior ne'er heard!
- Be bold, oh, Wiki! Come mould our Wiki!
- All told, oh, Wiki –
- Thou art greatest of all media –
- Our wise n' worldly Wikipedia!
