David van Zanten (born 8 May 1982, Dublin[1]) is an Irish professional footballer currently playing for Scottish Premier League club Hibernian. He was born to a Dutch father and an Irish mother.
Van Zanten began his career with Tolka Rovers before joining Celtic in 1999. He spent three seasons with Celtic but failed to make any first team appearances and he was released from his contract. He joined St Mirren in 2003 after impressing John Coughlin in a trial match at Easter Road[2]. Van Zanten helped St Mirren win promotion to the Scottish Premier League in season 2005-06.
On May 6, 2008 it was reported that Van Zanten had signed a pre-contract agreement with SPL rivals Hibs to sign a three-year contract with Hibs when his contract with St Mirren expires in the summer of 2008[3][4].
