IMDb profile |
Daredevils of the West (1943) is a Republic Movie serial.
This serial was long considered to be a partially lost film; for years, copies of only chapters 2, 4, 5, and 12 circulated on 16mm among film collectors. The entire serial, however, was never fully "lost," it was simply never re-released to theaters, or released on video because the archival print, now owned by Paramount, is missing about 5 reels of sound. Republic Pictures' sale of some of the original picture elements to Hopalong Cassidy (for use as stock footage) may have contributed to the loss of some of the physical elements of the film which have not survived. All 12 chapters will be screened, for the first time in 65 years, in May 2008 by the Serial Squadron at SerialFest 2008 in Newtown, Pennsylvania.
