[edit] 2001 (Debut season)

Peverill was drafted from the 2001 Rookie list, and got his first break after he was elevated to the senior list due the long-term injury of the prominent midfielder Joe Misiti. After an arm injury on ANZAC Day, Peverill returned the following week against West Coast, picking up 26 disposals. The next six weeks saw him become an important part of Essendon's midfield. In the Round 12 clash against Adelaide, Peverill led the team off the ground, a gesture the club gave him to thank him for his efforts, due to the fact he was moved back to the rookie list for the return of Misiti. The next week Peverill played in the reserves, then suffered another injury which kept him out for the rest of the 2001 season.

[edit] 2002-present

Peverill was drafted officially onto the senior list for 2002 and has since impressed with his crafty footwork and ball skills. He has become a key player for Essendon, and is currently the club's prized tagger who is considered a part of the club's leadership group.

His form, however, has not been up to the same standard of the promise he showed in his debut year, with one of the weaknesses cited being his lack of pace. In 2006, Peverill played his 100th game.

In May 2008 it was reported that Essendon's senior coach, Matthew Knights, had indicated to Peverill he would given fewer playing opportunities for the remainder of the 2008 season, in order to develop the club's younger talent for the future.[1]
