Coming Home is a 1978 drama film which tells the story of an injured Vietnam War veteran's difficulty in re-entering civilian life after his return from the war. It stars Jane Fonda, Jon Voight, Bruce Dern, Penelope Milford, Robert Carradine and Robert Ginty.
The movie, which was adapted from the novel of the same name by George Davis, was written by Robert C. Jones, Waldo Salt, Nancy Dowd and Rudy Wurlitzer (uncredited). It was directed by Hal Ashby.

It won Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Jon Voight), Best Actress in a Leading Role (Jane Fonda) and Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen (Jones, Salt, and Dowd). It was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Bruce Dern), Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Penelope Milford), Best Director, Best Film Editing and Best Picture. The film was also nominated for the Palme d'Or (Golden Palm) at the Cannes Film Festival and Voight won the Award for Best Actor for his performance.
