[edit] Marketing driven

The whole article looks like beeing written by the Marketing department of the developing company. Most of the information presented here is the same as presented on the companies homepage. What about the lacks and weaknesses compared to other applications? 87.162.95.110

Feel free to contribute these aspects. --Pmkpmk 12:02, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
The programs capabilities appear much more generic compared to other major modelling and rendering packages. The user is required to operate with tools that do what a proper raytracer is supposed to do - but if you have not sufficient knowledge of this technique and its background based on math, many sliders and buttons come only to live by tweaking and waiting for it's outcome. On the other hand, Cinema4D is an amazing stable application, I can tell by frequent work with it. Initial program start is quite speedy, once been in memory it comes back due to a restart within no more than 5 seconds. The graphical user interface is straight and clearly arranged. Once you have seen all of it's items, no surprise in usage will cross the way. No Microsoft Windows GUI elements are used. Maxon Computers seems to maintain a complete user interface library of their own. I would welcome this type of look&feel in other applications very much. Maybe Maxon is licensing this library one day on the market. 62.117.13.165 (talk) 22:44, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Primary Sources

Most of the sources will be German computer magazines and therefore not much help for an international article. If nobody objects, I am going to remove the tag in a few days. --Pmkpmk 23:41, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

Done. --Pmkpmk 12:59, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Naming

Does anyone know why it's called 4D instead of 3D???

That's easy! The name "4D" was coined with the first program version which added animation capabilities, thus introducing the fourth dimension - time! --Pmkpmk 08:32, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Does anyone know why both the question and the answer are provided by the same author? Bubbleshooting 02:44, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

If you look at the history page, it's pretty evident that's not the case... --Strangnet 09:16, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Stereoscopic 3D

Say, using Cinema 4D, is there an easy way of generating different 3D images (for each eye), such that a true stereoscopic 3D image is produced? Does the program let you specify distance from the object being created, as well as degrees of parallax? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.177.27.16 (talk) 09:18, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Not directly, you can align two cameras and set Film X-Offset to get a correct stereoscopic frustum. Spatial View Inc. provides a plugin that lets you control many stereoscopic aspects. A demo version is available. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.117.3.27 (talk) 15:22, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
