Biandrate is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Novara in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 70 km northeast of Turin and about 12 km west of Novara. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,124 and an area of 12.7 km².[1]
Biandrate borders the following municipalities: Casalbeltrame, Casalino, Recetto, San Nazzaro Sesia, San Pietro Mosezzo, and Vicolungo.
In the High Middle Ages it was the seat of a county in the March of Montferrat. Oberto II was an important count, who took part in the Fourth Crusade, and Nicoletto da Torino, a troubadour, was a temporary resident at the count's court.
