Benny Ziffer

Benny Ziffer (born 1953), an Israeli author and journalist, was born in Tel Aviv. His parents, Heinz and Nira (nee Farhi), immigrated to Israel from Turkey in 1949. Since 1988, Ziffer has been the literary editor of Haaretz daily newspaper, one of the most respected Hebrew language newspapers in Israel.
Ziffer is the author of three novels: Turkish March (Hebrew for 'Rondo alla Turka')(1995), Ziffer and his Kind (1999) and The Literary Editor's Progress (2005). He has also translated French novels and poetry into Hebrew.
Ziffer writes a political-cultural column in Haaretz that combines television reviews with reflections on contemporary Israeli life.
Ziffer is married to Irit, and they have three children.
