[edit] Take the 'unlucky' stuff out of the 'intro'
Add it to the "Events" section. It sounds as if August is unlucky, however this belief is only held by a small portion of the Brazillian population.
[edit] Julian Calendar Discrepancy
"The month has 31 days because Augustus wanted as many days as Julius Caesar's July."
Really ? That's not what Julian calendar#Length of the months says.
Perhaps we should move that sentence to Julian calendar#Length of the months, leaving behind a sentence like "See Julian calendar#Length of the months for details."
[edit] Edit 'Monthlong events in August'
under the 'Monthlong events in August' section reads 'August 4 is Shilo's birthday. He is famous for his work with numerous charities.' this should be moved to the events in august section or deleted. also, what's the deal with the 'Moving daily events in August' section? 68.239.78.171 00:33, 28 August 2006 (UTC)ryan
[edit] Events in August
I just yanked a bunch of "this day in history" references from this section:
- August 9, 1965 Singapore separated from the Federation of Malaysia and became independent.
- August 14, 1947 Pakistan became independent (included East Bengal region as a whole).
- August 15, 1945 Korea became independent.
- August 15, 1947 Bharat became independent and adopted the name India.
- August 19, 1945 Vietnam The August Revolution succeeded.
- August 25, 1825 Uruguay became independent from Brazil.

[edit] Most People Born in this Month?
I heard that more people are born in August than any other month, due to the high conception rates around the Holidays in December. Is there a source for this? -01:20, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
I've heard similar responses for other months, such as conception around Valentine's Day, and conception in June (Summer vacation) and I doubt there is a concensus or source anywhere. 66.203.38.23 17:24, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
I'm not sure about that. I know that September is one of the 3 highest, and I'm pretty sure the other months are a couple of months apart from September. I guess a source will just have to be found.
