In the Indian epic Ramayana, Atikaya was the son of Ravana and his second wife, Dhanyamalini. Atikaya was the younger brother of Indrajit and was extremely powerful. He had learned all the secrets of archery and gained divine weapons through Lord Shiva when he caught the Trishula of Lord Shiva in anger at Mount Kailasha.
Due to his extraordinary skills and superiority, he was killed by Lakshmana through the Brahmastra, the supreme arrow of Lord Brahma. This secret was revelead to Lakshmana by the God of Wind, Vayu due to the persuasion of Lord Indra, since the invincible armour of Lord Brahma was granted to Atikaya. And the only way to destroy this armour was to use Brahmastra.
