Talk:Athina Roussel
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hi! I took the liberty of adding citations to the page and some very factual information. I hope no one will kill me for it! Please let me know what you think if you have time. Also, I propose editing or altogether removing the "External links" because all of them are included in the many citations I added and it just adds unnecessary clutter. --Ashley Rovira 13:11, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
Can we revert it again? Huh, can we? ;) -- John Owens 11:20 19 May 2003 (UTC)
[edit] De Miranda
I'd like to know if anybody can cite any source that states that Athina contracted Doda's family name. This is not mandatory in Brazil, but a personal choice. Dantadd 21:38, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

- Actually, on every equestrian site that shows her competing results, she is listed as "Athina Onassis de Miranda". Also the information is stated quite clearly in the Vanity Fair article of May 2005, by Nicholas Gage, where he discusses Athina taking on the Onassis name with plans to combine it with Doda's name. You're right it's not a requirement in Brazil. A lot of people know this. A lot of people are smarter than you imagine, believe it or not. But that's how she wanted it so that is what she did. Deal with it. Wikipedia is the only place that is sadly behind the times and in the dark on her name. But it's not surprising. Wikipedians are often annoyingly stubborn these days. But I don't care. You guys can be wrong as much as you want. It's no skin off my back. I'll say no more about it and just leave it to you to (hopefully) get it right someday. --Ashley Rovira 18:21, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
Yipes! All they did was ask for a source!
- Hey, Casiraghitrio|Ashley Rovira, I just asked for a source. Please, refrain from offending me and jumping to conclusions about what I think. Dantadd (talk) 19:44, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- My apologies. I overreacted. I was over-touchy on the subject. Well, in any case, there is an UPDATE regarding Athina's name. Athina has just competed last weekend in a show jumping in Spain. The official site for the competition listed her as "Athina Miranda Onassis". This is a slight change from previous equestrian references which call her "Athina Onassis de Miranda". I just wanted to point that out. Maybe someone knows of a more authoritative reference. --Ashley Rovira (talk) 18:14, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
