Ashton, Stalybridge and Liverpool Junction Railway

Ashton, Stalybridge & Liverpool Junction Railway (AS&LJR), was formed in 1844 and was taken over by the Manchester and Leeds Railway in 1847.
The first section ran from Miles Platting on the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway to Ashton under Lyne from 13 July 1846. On 5 October 1846, the line was connected to Stalybridge. The company was acquired by Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway on 9 July 1847. Finally on 1 August 1849 the line was connected to London and North Western Railway (LNWR) at Stalybridge.
