Aref (Persian: عارف) born August 10,1941 in Tehran, Iran, is an Iranian-born pop singer.Aref’s first introductions to music came in part by his Azeri mother listening to Radio Baku as a child. Radio of Baku played azeri and western music as well as the European operas in that time.In the 1960's, Aref was among the firsts who introduced Western melodies with romantic lyrics to Iran .After the Islamic revolution Aref left Iran and went to London and Los Angeles.He has one son and three daughters .
