Andrew C. Porter

Andrew Calvin "Andy" Porter, Ph.D. (b. July 10, 1942) in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, is an educational psychologist and psychometrician who has made significant contributions in education policy. Most notably, he has written about student assessment, accountability, standards-based curricula, and quality teaching. A past president of the American Educational Research Association [1], Porter is currently the Dean of the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. He obtained his B.S. in education from Indiana State University and his M.A. and Ph.D. in educational psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before his current post, he was a professor at Vanderbilt University, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Michigan State University.
