Altstadt (English: Old Town) is a district in the Swiss city of Zürich. It is known as District 1. District 1 encompasses the same area that was once the total area of the city of Zürich in 1893.
Administratively, District 1 is divided into four parts by the Zürich statistical office.
The four parts are Rathaus, Hochschulen, Lindenhof and City. These divisions are only for statistical purposes, and do not represent any geographical boundaries.
