[edit] Lack of Information

I do not have much information about this award. However, I found references to some recipients of this award. For example, see:

Feynman's bio at nobelprize.org Teller's bio at universityofcalifornia.edu

Lee's bio at ccast.ac.cn Godel's bio at answers.com - Columbia University Press Marshall Rosenbluth's bio at ucsd.edu

Wigner's bio at princeton.edu Gursey's bio at boun.edu.tr (in Turkish)

I am not sure about the year Rosenbluth got the award. (Probably 1967).

I started verifying the above information again and moving the references into the article. Erkcan 15:50, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Einstein Medal

What's the difference? Ludvikus 02:46, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Different award, different issuing body. Erkcan 15:50, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Lee and Yang's entry is probably not correct

According to [1] and [2], Lee and Yang got the Albert Einstein Commemorative Award in Science of Yeshiva University, New York, so they should not be on this article. There is a confusion since there are multiple awards named after Einstein. Erkcan 16:01, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Actually Feynman entry might also be incorrect. According to [3], the Albert Einstein Award that Feynman was bestowed by Princeton University. Erkcan 18:58, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
This issue got resolved now. The selecting body is a committee from the Institute for Advanced Study, connected of course to Princeton. Erkcan 14:56, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] sai shyam

The contributors with IP addresses 59.96.97.213 and 59.93.81.51, could you please provide some information about Sai Shyam, which you keep on adding to the article? Searching in google for the phrases "sai shyam" and einstein only return one person from/associated with Albert Einstein College of Medicine, which has nothing to do with this award in physics. Erkcan 21:26, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

  • I have again reverted the change by a similar IP address: 59.93.95.199. Could you please provide some sort of information? Anything please, even just a simple webpage which introduces the supposed recipient? Who is this person? Thanks. Erkcan 08:55, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Leo Szilard

Leo Szilard appears to be another recipient of this award (in 1960), according to [4]. Other sources about this would be nice. Erkcan 12:58, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

Here is another ref: [5]. There are multiple references on the web that he received the award in 1958 (together with Teller?). Erkcan 05:23, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
Another reference for 1960 as the possible date [6]. And one more: [7]. Erkcan 13:11, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Feza Gursey

This award is given once every three years (or at least it was meant to be like that as can be read from a couple of the references in the article), so Gursey entry was not solid, but to the best of my knowledge there was no other reason (like references) to remove him. However, there is now such a reference. According to [8], Gursey was indeed awarded an Einstein Medal in 1979, but not in Princeton, but in Jerusalem. So I removed him from the list of recipients. [edit] Importance

In addition to those mentioned already in the article, here are a few other sources about the importance of this award:

  • "highest American award given to physicists", p.54 of Stephen Hawking: A Biography. ISBN 0313323925. . Erkcan 22:45, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
