Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. --MattWright (talk) 20:20, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Yosemite Firefall
"This page is useful information." is what you wrote on my talk: page. Please let me know what information your external link provides that is not already on the article? I looked at the page, there is not much extra information there, but there is a lot of commercial content and ads. That is not an acceptable external link. --MattWright (talk) 22:08, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
- I agree. Both Yosemite links you have added have minimal content. In the case of the firefall link, there is no more information than is already in the article. The lakes link isn't even about Yosemite Lakes - it is about the overall park geography. It to has very limited content and it is not directly related to the article topic. These are both violations of WP:EL. Adding external links tends to benefit the linked websites more than Wikipedia. Nposs 16:30, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to El Capitan . It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. - If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make the edit, please ignore this notice
This is your last warning. The next time you insert a spam link, as you did to El Capitan , you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted as well, preventing anyone from linking to them from any site that uses the MediaWiki spam blacklist, which includes all of Wikimedia and Wikipedia. In reply to your comment on my talk: page asking why we won't accept these links, it is because we feel that they do not add value to Wikipedia. You should not be linking to your own sites on Wikipedia. If they are valuable enough, other editors will add them. --MattWright (talk) 20:01, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

This is your only warning. The next time you insert a spam link, as you did to Espresso, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Spammers may have their websites blacklisted as well, preventing their websites from appearing on Wikipedia and other sites that use the MediaWiki spam blacklist at all.
