The Seattle Mariners 1988 season was their 12th since the franchise creation, and ended the season finishing 7th in the American League West, finishing with a record of 68-93.

- June 1, 1988: Steve Balboni was signed as a Free Agent with the Seattle Mariners. [1]
- July 21, 1988: Ken Phelps was traded by the Seattle Mariners to the New York Yankees for a player to be named later, Jay Buhner, and Rich Balabon (minors). The New York Yankees sent Troy Evers (minors) (October 12, 1988) to the Seattle Mariners to complete the trade.
