- It looks nice, but it is a bit wide. I made a suggestion for the Marathi Wikipedia; which is the same, but it says मुक्त ज्ञानकोष instead of एक मुक्त ज्ञानकोष. I made 2, one with ज्ञानकोष, and one with विश्वकोष. I can re-make one with the एक, but that may take a bit of time, because I recently re-installed Windows, and I have to re-install everything. Please look here: mr:Image:Marathi Wikipedia Logo Idea (3).png and mr:Image:Marathi Wikipedia Logo Idea (2).png. - For now I will just leave it, as it is. I saw logos for Marathi and other wikipedia. They are good too. But I like "एक मुक्त ज्ञानकोष" as punch line. Its little wide, and has not much space at top. But because left column is little wider, it seems to be fit at the place. Will add the some space at the top though.

- I used gimp for the logo. Will try to see how would it look, if its little less wider. The one right now, is a real quick one. We ofco urse, could improve it.
- Choosing punch line doesn't mean that we do literal translation. "एक मुक्त ज्ञानकोष" sounds more appealing than just "मुक्त ज्ञानकोष". Formar makes a bolder statement than later. My vote is still for "एक मुक्त ज्ञानकोष". And well! even "मुक्त ज्ञानकोष" doesn't suggest "THE free encyclopedia", it just suggests "free encyclopedia".

- लोगो का हिन्दी अनुवाद पहले भी सही था, परन्तु अब सटीक है, असल में आजाद तो उर्दु का शब्द है, जबकि मुक्त हिन्दी का सही शब्द है। तो अंग्रेजी से हिन्दी अनुवाद में आजाद भी चल गया, क्योंकि हिंदी भाषा हर भाषा के शब्दों को आमन्त्रित करती है, क्योंकि यह खुले दिल की है, ना कि इसकी शब्दावली छोटी है, इसीलिये हिन्दी का हसही शब्द मिलने पर शोधन करना आवश्यक था, जो कि किया गया|

After the name of the article and before सम्पादन one '-' should be there. Like भारत - सम्पादन. Otherwise it looks as if the whole article's name is भारत सम्पादन while editing.

मेरे विचार में निर्वाचित तस्वीर को दाहिनी ओर(Right Side) के स्तंभ(Column) में स्थानांतरित(Shift) कर देना चाहिए । बाएं की ओर(Left Side) अधिक सामग्री(Material) होने के कारण यह लंबा होता है जबकि दाहिनी और उतनी सामग्री न होने से यह खाली-खाली सा दिखता है । Amitprabhakar ०१:५०, २३ फरवरी २००७ (UTC)

On Nepali wikipedia, there is a checkbox to switch scripts-- from devanagari to roman. On Hindi wikipedia, there is no way to write in devanagari directly. Could we have that system here? Deeptrivia ०२:०४, ९ मार्च २००७ (UTC)
- I started working towards it few time back. Need more time to work on it. You can create your monobook.js page like सदस्य:Mitul0520/monobook.js which will give you that ability. This script is from Eukesh. I am not very comfortable with the english keyboard to devnagari alphabet mapping it provides though. - I have tried out the new Monobook.js, and I think that there is a major problem which needs to be solved. It would be good if you could take away the direct Devanagari input in the left column खोजें box, because there are many pages with English titles; such as Template:लंदन के जिले. The [[Template:]] and [[MediaWiki:]] namespaces are in Latin script. Maybe you could have a toggling tick-box there also. ऐसा लगता है कि विकिपेडिया पर सम्पादन के लिये फोनेटिक देवनागरी की व्यवस्था की गयी है। किन्तु इसके बारे में कहीं कोई जानकारी नहीं मिल रही है; विशेषकर इसके कैरेक्टर मैपिंग की व्यवस्था क्या है, यह कहीं दिया जाना चाहिये।
इसके अतिरिक्त 'सम्पादन बाक्स' के उपर जो सूचना लिखी है, वह इस प्रकार हो तो बेहतर होगा:
ध्वन्यात्मक देवनागरी में लिखने के लिए चेक-सन्दूक में क्लिक करें (परीक्षण प्रावस्था)

मैं िहन्दी विकिपेडिया पर आलेख लिखते समय यहां दिया गया 'फोनेटिक िहन्दी ट्रांसलिटरेशन औजार' ही प्रयोग करता हूं। इससे मुझे बहुत सुविधा होती है। किन्तु मैने इसमे एक तार्किक त्रुटि पायी है, जो इस प्रकार है -
hii = ही, bhii = भी, jii = जी
किन्तु kii = किइ क्यों?

I have started to put together the basic framework for Portal (based on the English Portals) here: http://hi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal:Contents/Portals. I didn't realize till then that all of these language servers seem to be setup separately. 'Portal' is not working on the Hindi site. Can someone fix this? This is a comment on Hindi Wikipedia in general and not just the main page. The Hindi Wikipedia is just not up to the mark set by editions of WP in other languages. The Satyajit Ray article has been featured for weeks, most topics have insufficient articles and edits don't seem to be monitored properly. There's a lot of rubbish on Talk pages (including the Main Page talk - for example, Media:ਜ਼ੴੴਗ਼ਭਗ਼ਜਓਉਈਊਊਇੴਜ਼ਗ਼ਗ਼வடணஞஜங௲௱கஔஒஅஆஆ௫௨௧ஹஸஷ௲௲ਕਊਇ ੧੪ was here when I wrote this) and no one seems to take any action, unlike English and other language Wikipedias. Can members of Hindi Wikipedia please pull up their socks? For starters, try putting something on the pages relating to Indian cricketers - most of them are blank with just sub-headings put in zealously by someone without any corresponding text. Nobody would believe India is the most cricket-crazed nation in the world if our Wiki pages on them were anything to go by.
P.S. : I painstakingly put together the Robin Uthappa article despite it taking me nearly an hour, thanks to may various grammatical doubts, but I doubt any admins have taken a look at it to make corrections. No offense meant. Good to see the featured article has changed at last. Can you please give me a link to the nomination page? I have a bit of trouble with Hindi that's anything but absolutely simple, so I can't figure out where the nomination page is. I'll be working on other articles as soon as I find time. I was more bothered that on English Wikipedia, Wikiproject India apparently turns out some very high-quality stuff that frequently makes it to the Main Page while the Indian language versions seem to suffer.
Also, I know there's bad grammar in my articles, but I don't know what's right, I only did my best. But the page doesn't seem to have been touched by anyone else, which is quite unlike anything that would be done on the English edition. That was on more thing that put me off.
And all the nonsense on various pages - vandalism, random text etc.. Can something be done about that? Gives an impression of not being maintained, doesn't it? I don't know if you guys don't have enough admins or what, but I'd chip in as soon as I could find the time. - The English Wikipedia was terrible before it was decent too. Then people kept working on making it better which attracted more people. You ask what can be done about "all the nonsense on various pages - vandalism, random text etc" and the answer is for more people to fix it. It doesn't require admins to fix that kind of thing, just regular users who go and fix them. There aren't as many people contributing to the Hindi Wikipedia right now as the English one, so some things may not be caught as fast. The best thing that can be done is keep working on the project. We need more people to join in, and we need more "Learning Wiki" pages on the Hindi Wikipedia. But otherwise I think the progress is very good. We have a good main page and there are quite a few decent articles. But one thing I recommend we change is the writing in Hindi function in the खोजें box. I can't access others' pages without copying the text from notepad! Anyway, I'm glad to see that the Hindi Wikipedia is in a good state! --वुल्फ़वार्ता १३:५७, १८ जनवरी २००८ (UTC)

I've been expanding the Indian Economy articles on Persian (Iranian) Wikipedia.
I just finished making an article that would translate to something like "Foreign Trade and Investment in India".
There is no equivalent article on English WP as far as I know. (part of en:Economy of India discusses this though). But is there an equivalent article in Hindi that I can interwiki-link to? If so, I'd be grateful for any help in this regard.--129.111.68.243 १७:०१, १८ मार्च २००८ (UTC)
- Our article on the economy of India is at भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था. My technical Hindi is not nearly so good as to be able to tell for sure if we have an article as specific as yours, but I could not find and it doesn't seem that there is one. विदेशी पूँजी निवेश is our article on foreign capital investment. It currently refers only to India in the (short) text, but it shouldn't since the title is for the general topic.
