The Philippine Science High School - Eastern Visayas Campus, colloquially known as Pisay-EVC or PSHS-EVC, is one of the campuses of the Philippine Science High School System located at Pawing, Palo, Leyte. It is claimed to be the top high school in the region and one of the top high schools in the country. The creation of the PSHS Eastern Visayas Campus was signed into law on April 10, 1992 as the Republic Act 7373 known as An Act Establishing The Eastern Visayas Science High School. The school officially started its operations on July 4, 1994. In 1997, Republic Act 8496 known as An Act To Establish The Philippine Science High School System And Providing Funds Therefor unified all existing PSHS campuses into a single system of governance and management. Eastern Visayas Campus is currently under the supervision of the campus director Dr. Pedrito G. Padilla. However, the PSHS System temporarily assigned Dr. Padilla as OIC-Director to Cagayan Valley Campus. Dr. Estrella A. de Dios, the former CISD Chief, was immediately posted as OIC-Director in temporary lieu of Dr. Padilla. As soon as Dr. Padilla returns to Eastern Visayas Campus, Dr. de Dios will assume office as a teacher of the Biology Unit.
As part of the PSHS System mission, Eastern Visayas Campus provides scholarships to students with high aptitude in both science and mathematics, "helping the country reach a critical mass of professionals in science and technology." Its students usually come from various parts around the Eastern Visayas region. The students hailing from provinces such as Biliran, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Northern Samar, Samar, and Southern Leyte thus come from a diverse background.
