Phineas Bogg is a Voyager, a main fictional character in the 1982-83 television series Voyagers! played by Jon-Erik Hexum. He is putatively named after the character Phileas Fogg from the 1873 Jules Verne novel Around the World in Eighty Days.

[edit] Overview

Phineas Bogg is a 25 year old white male and was once a pirate. He was recruited and trained by historians from the future to help history along its natural course by using time travel to help important events unfold as they should. These historians are known as Voyagers.

Apparently, he was passed by the teachers in Voyager school due to his charm and good nature and willingness to do right for people because his general knowledge of history is quite lacking. He would frequently mix up important dates with other historical places or certain people with the wrong events but overall he would do a good job as a Voyager.

His pocket watch sized time machine, the Omni, had circuits with a temporal boundary to as far ahead as 1970 but it malfunctioned and transported him to the year 1982 where he met a 12 year old boy named Jeffrey Jones. Bogg became a mentor for the orphaned Jeffrey (since he could not bring him back to 1982) and together they work at keeping history on its proper course.
