The 24th Utah Senate District is located in Juab, Piute, Sanpete, Sevier, Tooele and Wayne Counties and includes Utah House Districts 1, 21, 67, 68, 69, 70 and 73. The current State Senator representing the 24th district is Darin Peterson. Peterson was appointed to the Utah Senate in 2005 and formally elected in 2006. Due to health concerns, he opted not to pursue re-election in 2008, endorsing Sevier County Commissioner Ralph Okerlund from Monroe as the Republican nominee. The Democratic Party's nominee is Tobiah "Toby" Dillon from Tooele City, while the Constitution Party's nominee is Benton L. Peterson from Manti.
