[edit] Conflict of interest edits

Single purpose account edits with Conflict of interest, removal of maintenance tags

[edit] March 2007

Please, do not unilaterally delete tags from the article Common Cause. This is not your decision to make. Be respectful of other editors and leave template tags alone until a decision has been reached on that article's talk page. XINOPH | TALK 14:57, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Once again, do not remove the tags from the article Common Cause. Doing so is considered vandalism, and could have you restricted from editing Wikipedia. The tags do not reflect on the subject of the article, merely the article itself. Do not damage the integrity of the encyclopedia by disrespecting other editors. XINOPH | TALK 22:14, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

You have been reported to the administrators for removing the tags from the article Common Cause. XINOPH | TALK 11:44, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] April 2007

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Common Cause, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with,
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors,
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam);
    and you must always:
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially neutral point of view, verifiability, and autobiography.

Accounts used solely for blatant self-promotion may be blocked indefinitely without further warning.

For more details, please read the Conflict of Interest guideline. Thank you. Jehochman (talk/contrib) 05:40, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

We've traced your IP address to Common Cause. To avoid the possibility of embarrassment, Wikipedia's conflict of interest policy recommends that you avoid editing your own article. Instead, take your concerns to the article's talk page, or else contact Wikipedia. Thanks. Jehochman (talk/contrib) 05:40, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Removing maintenance tags, continued conflict of interest editing

Please don't remove maintenance tags such as {{advert}} until the article has been fixed. Also, you should avoid editing an article about your own organization, Common Cause, which is the location of this IP address. If you continue making COI edits in violation of neutral point of view, and removing maintenance tags, an administrator may block your IP address from editing Wikipedia without further warnings. Common Cause

Please stop editing articles with subject matter you have a conflict of interest in. According to Reverse DNS your IP is linked to "cause2.commoncause.org". Continuing to do so is considered disruptive and may lead to blocks from editing. Feel free to contribute in areas where you are not personally involved. Thank you, Prodego talk 22:15, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

I have attempted several times to remove POV, unverifiable statements from the Common Cause article, which has been removed by this unregistered user. If you need to practice this, I respectfully refer you to The five pillars of Wikipedia. You may also post a message on my talk page if you ahve questions. Bearian 18:18, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

As per previous advice and warnings on this user talk page, and April and May 2007 discussions in sections #3 and #4 in Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard/Archive 8, you (user 208.201.146.137) know that Wikipedia policies and guidelines strongly discourage and at times prohibit conflict of interest edits by single purpose accounts such as those originating from your organisation. Your recent edit to the article Common Cause has been reverted. — Athaenara 09:41, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
